Giving Thanks

Hey Hello, Abole, Ola’, Hola’, Bonjour, Alo, Hallo, Namaste, Bonjour, o co o c yo o co, Hę̄r’s cē!

Hello Y’all!!!

today, let’s give thanks in multicultural fashion!

In a healthy human society, people should be active in giving thanks to each other for their friendship, kindness, humility, and even their greetings!

SOME give thanks to mother nature for her bounty of life.

SOME give thanks to their God or to who/whatsoever they believe gave them life.

thank you signage

Now maybe you are of the mindset not to participate in any “thanksgiving” because you are P-O’d about how the white man came and began “thankstaking” a land that was already inhabited by tribes of people.

I SEE YOU. Really. I have Creek Indian ancestry. Hę̄r’s cē! is a common way to say hello in Muscogee, the language of indigenous people of the southeastern United States, also called Creek “native americans”.

Green Corn Ceremony, where Creek (Muscogee) celebrated health, happiness, friendship, and the ripening of corn-https://sites.google.com/site/indigenousinquisitor/Home/creekpage/religion

I AM A PROPONENT OF BEING REAL. I will speak for myself and perhaps for many others. There is no disrespect to the indigenous peoples involved in my Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving, as celebrated by Americans, is for many, a tradition of family gathering and eating together and for giving food to those in need, a ceremony, if I may. Some natives gave thanks to “the ONE” who provided the animals from their hunt. In fact, many indigenous people still participate in ceremonial activity surrounding food and do not hate us for doing so.

NOW, let’s continue to be real with each other. What is frowned upon about Thanksgiving is when we pretend that the first Thanksgiving was a happy and peaceful celebration between “Pilgrims and Indians”!

I KNOW. That’s what most kids were taught in school so…

Like most historical facts in American history that are uncomfortable or hard to hear, many do not know or do not remember why many observe the National Day of Mourning , first held Coles Hill in Plymouth instead of or in addition to the traditional Thanksgiving Day.

In 1970, Wamsutta Frank James refused to give a rewritten version of his “Thanksgiving” speech skewed to erase over the hardship, theft of their land, and genocide their ancestors endured after the pilgrims landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts 400 years ago this year, 2020. Instead, he walked out and held the first National Day of Mourning on Nov. 27, 1970, with his supporters in remembrance of the truth.

SO, enjoy your family, be grateful for the means, and feed the hungry, but take the time out to honor and to remember those who died and whose land we now stand upon and are blessed to live on.

Blessings and full tummies to y’all!

SHUT IT DOWN!!!

I have ultimate freedom to do what I want if I am willing to accept the consequence. (Now I wouldn’t do this, because I am not willing to break a leg falling off the car but you do you!)

Hey Ya’ll! What’s Up-per?

I know, I know, the world as we knew it, GONE…

Our work/life balance, OFF BALANCE…

Our frickin’ sanity, INSANE…

It is what it is but it’s not all bad.

I am not powerless. I control my own attitude. I can focus my energy on practicing to increase my own responsibility.

Take your responsibility, address your actions, use “I feel” statements, assertive responses, and practice listening. Anger often comes from misunderstanding and much misunderstandings often come from mishearing.

Work to let go of resentment for forgiveness is not something to do for anyone other that yourself. Allowing yourself to forgive…it is not saying what happened was ok.

Listening to another point of view does not negate yours!

Our minds can hinder our inner wellbeing. Self sabotaging thoughts will attempt to drown out reality. Hateful messages you relentlessly tell yourself… you’re internally stuck on repeat.

Would you go around saying the things you say to yourself to the person you most admire, your hero, your mentor?

Of course not!!! So stop talking crazy to yourself! Ok, so maybe you surround yourself with people who are positive who elevate you and tell you to stop dwelling on those little things that you can’t control. Or maybe you have that someone who tells you “There is so much good in your life, what could possibly be causing you to feel that bad?”

GREAT! RIGHT?

—Your tone- never positive enough, smile- never big enough, You don’t seem as happy as you should be– cause girrlll you got it going on. It’s called Toxic Positivity…Someone is dealing with their insecurities by dismissing you and trying to adjust your behavior cause its realness makes them uncomfortable.

You have a right to feel and be NOT ok. I mean let’s be honest—some things are bad and you don’t have to be ready to see the good in it!

Just maybe you are not as happy as what they see as your usual and that is ok. If you are like me, you have been pretending and putting on that face anyway and are darn tired of it!

Do you like the way it feels when you burn yourself accidentally? Of course not! Then stop being an internal arsonist with your self talk. You are still strong when you ask for help. You are the bravest when you hurt and you refuse to pretend that it doesn’t. You go on! Reach up and out to solicit a hand without reservation!

My friends, please understand that any attempt like getting up out of bed and brushing your teeth, your hair, and washing your behind is monumental, especially when your mental stressors are holding you down.

Sometimes you just need to shut it down and

just Woosah (wü-sah)

Woosah (wü-sah) : 1. a state of clarity and calmness. 2. something of and/or pertaining to clarity and calmness.

He was unperturbed by the disaster, as he practiced woosah.

The Comeback

Hey y’all! I know, I know. You were like…Ummm…Nice Blog, Quirky, Relevant, Warm and Inviting. But…Where the heck did she go?!?!?!

Well, let’s just say that I will expunge any false hypotheses very, very soon…Is something earth shattering brewing?

YES! I’m soooooooo excited and you guys are gonna be like undefined

SO. OK. Let me get right to the essence of what makes up a comeback. First, there has to be some sort of missing element or a barrier preventing the initial coming. Then, there must be an undying yearning and purpose that continues to drive the person or persons despite their lack. You know, kinda like that damn bug that you hit with the paper, fly swat, then the bug zapper that STILL GOT UP!!!

When looking at historical comebacks in the world, there are many names and faces that should be noted.

Jesus, religious leader in Christianity, was born poor, ridiculed, double and triple crossed, and ultimately killed…Now, coming back from the dead has to be the ultimate comeback!

Soichiro Honda, founder of Honda, was told that his piston ring was not good enough, when he did get a contract his factory was bombed a couple times and destroyed by an earthquake. To add injury to insult, there were gas shortages, limited materials to manufacture from, and so on…Now, anybody ever heard of Honda!!!?

Katherine Johnson, mathematician prodigy, experienced that women, and especially black women, were not entitled to the same notariety nor bathroom facilities as their white male counterparts. Labeled a NASA woman “computer”, Katherine was the main part of a team of women responsible for the reverse engineering of the IBM computer calculations for accuracy and ultimately calculating NASA’s trajectory into space history!!

Johnson and members of her family, Mayor Donnie Tuck, Senator Warner and Governor McAuliffe. Margot Lee Shetterly, author of “Hidden Figures,” courtesy NASA Langley/ David C. Bowman

So, join me in becoming the comeback kid! What is something that you know you were supposed to keep doing but stopped? WHY?

When are you starting back!?!

End of Year Madness?!?

Focus on Amour Propre-/ˌämo͝or ˈprôpr(ə)/

(French, literally “self-love”). It means love – “amour” and self – “propre“.

SO, I think this young man was running from a spider under his bed and decided to sleep on top of the door. Someone shared this with me and I took one look at it and could relate.

Not to the spider, but in an entrepreneurial way to the end of the year being so full of chaos that I might as well sleep on top of the door cause the bed is definitely not going to see much of me!!

Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me? DON’T YOU DARE LIE!!!! LOL!

Let’s dwell on this for a hot second. Bosses, Leaders, MIC/WIC (Man and Woman in charge!!!) Have you ever just felt as if your head was going to pop off your body if one more wonky thing happened, one more person called in, one more person asked you if you had a minute, or one more dang bill showed up?!?

Leadership + long-term stress = A very uncomfortable situation for all involved. The decision-making process is affected by the presence of stress. Now, before you just go off and talk about how diamonds are created from intense pressure and how they are so unscratchable and hard, please know that hardness does not mean indestructible! Just take a look-see…

SO… before you talk about how great you are under stress and how your production levels soar, JUST STOP, and take a great big ole breath.

DO you really think that in the absence of bushels of stress, you are ineffective? IDK about you, but a bushel of stress vs. a bushel of beans, Imma take the beans, add some smoked turkey tails, cook up some cornbread, and have me a nice bowl of comfort food!

Seriously yall, I know that there is more to do’s that will not get done on a daily. SO?…It IS WHAT IT IS!!!! You can only be in one place (even if you skype, loom, or zoom room yourself to 100 more places) at a time.

Photo by Eternal Happiness on Pexels.com

You can only multi-task successfully until you don’t, and hopefully, the mistake you make does not cost you your business. You can only physically do so much before your body submits to exhaustion, and hopefully, the heart attack you have won’t kill you. You can only neglect your family so much before they don’t even count on you anymore, and hopefully, you realize that actions do speak louder than words…

Look, I just want everyone’s heads to stay firmly planted on their necks as we all race to the finish line of 2019. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

Aggression Might Be an Asset.

Hey! Hello and How are ya?!?

SO. What is aggression? Is it a positive thing or a negative trait? Hmm… let’s take a deeper look into this. I found two dictionary definitions as follows:

1. ready or likely to attack or confront characterized by or resulting from aggression the second definition

2. pursuing one’s aims and interests forcefully, sometimes unduly so.

Now some of the synonyms for aggressive are hostile assertive, belligerent, forceful, antagonistic, competitive, insistent, energetic, and vigorous.

It has been my experience that many people are intimidated when they meet a person who is insistent and assertive whether they are in business or not. For reasons beyond our xx chromosomal control, a lot of that intimidation is even stronger when it is a female who is identified as a bit assertive, i.e. aggressive. I don’t believe that is a bad thing. NOPE! Come closer, let me break it down a bit further.

Photo by Tim Mossholder on Pexels.com

Even with the intimidation that some may feel, I think that subconsciously whether it’s business-to-business or business-to-consumer the recipient feels more secure in their investment decisions in their decisions on who to give their money to or who to work with if that leader is a bit on the aggressive side. Case in point: If you’re looking for a stockbroker to invest on WallStreet for you, do you want a stockbroker who’s going to sit back and “pardon me, thank you, excuse me,” and not make it to the front of the crowd where he needs to be, OR, are you going to go with that stockbroker that pushes his way to the front, not necessarily knocking people down, but making their presence known as “hey I’m here, I’m heading there, I need you to move if you’re in my way because I’m going to get to where I need to be!” You see it all comes down to effective communication having a more aggressive and assertive leader of business brings results!

You trust these individuals. You know what they want you to know and how they plan to get what they want! You know that they are not shy about communicating possible impending problems and generally they’re extremely self-confident or they come across that way at least. Now, for all my #bossbabes RAW TRUTH… We all know that is important for a business leader or a thought leader to be assertive (survival of the fittest rule of the game). I am of the belief that especially as a female entrepreneur there must be an air of assertiveness in order to succeed in a world that is mostly male.

In fact, I’ve noticed that a lot of your most successful entrepreneurs have more effort, more assertiveness, more aggressiveness, and sometimes less overall experience if you look at their backgrounds.  However, aggressive effort builds skill. One of the things I would encourage you to do is if you haven’t already increased the amount of written content, written books that you consume, get to reading!!! One such noteworthy book is Grit by Angela Duckworth. It looks at the power of personal perseverance and passion and she calls that combination Grit. So, according to Duckworth, the secret to having outstanding results and record-breaking achievements is not talent but it is Grit. She also proposes that looking at people who have a perceived natural talent for things could be a prejudice against those who have Grit.  I don’t know about you, but that seems like a mistake that could be leaving out a lot of talented people who evolved through their aggressive nail chewing or their Grit.

I teach my private coaching clients in The FAIRE Transformation Formula that it would be most advisable to explore and expand on not our raw talent for doing what we do, but to explore our process. Highlight the journey!! Explore all of the things that occurred in your life that have helped you arrive at your current level of greatness. See, I believe that if you only shine the spotlight on the talent that has resulted from your aggressiveness then you leave the best part of your story behind. There’s always someone watching from the shadows when you’re building on your empire. Don’t do them a disservice by sending the message that everything else that makes up your grit doesn’t matter as much as your talent. SO many of the great pillars of entrepreneurship began with a negative talent pool. so today I challenge you to be a grittier person!! Yes we’ve adapted we have grown we have involved evolved but our evolution is a direct response to our aggressive grittiness.

Crooked Paths

“Blessings overflow in life paths that are crooked, seemingly impossible, endless, and slow!” -The FAIRE Mogul

Hello and Howdy Y’all! My name is the artist formerly known as “CY” Cynthia… now, The FAIRE Mogul and welcome to my blog. Ok, so, I consider this space a sort of family room if you will. A sanctuary for relaxation and reconnection with the soul and the mind. I am hopeful that you will definitely benefit from being here and will feel right at home.

Random thought about slowness…One thing that has always puzzled and frustrated me is when the natural flow of my thoughts are mistaken for an unearthed side effect of being born and raised in the Southern United States. “I can tell you’re from the South because you talk really slow”…It’s just not so…. It is, rather, a side effect of having an absurdly large amount of ideas flowing out one small exit portal or stem from my brain. I know I am not alone in this. Preach Pastor Preach! LOL, I see you! (For those of you who I just totally lost…translation…that ^^is a Southern phrase that is often yelled out unrestrained when an audience member profoundly identifies with what the speaker or pastor, if actually or metaphorically in church, has just said.)

Now, about that turtle…Have you ever really watched a turtle travel a road? It is quite maddening to those onlookers who want him to just stay on the straight path, hurry up, and avoid the dangerous elements, ditches, and potholes in his journey. My theory is that just maybe the turtle is being bombarded with so many things that he must travel slowly and crookedly to digest all of it! I’m sure there are times when that turtle is like, let me just turn a bit to the left and see if the rocks are less sharp over there…nope, still sharp. Well, maybe I will take the ditch because the grass seems nice…nope, stepped in an ant pile.

Photo by prasanthdas ds on Pexels.com

The turtle and the entrepreneur run into a lot of the same crud. I know I have. I believe that finding the right financial path in securing your personal and your business direction is one of THE most important things to success. I also acknowledge that many of us get into business without much of the “coaching and mentoring” that we hear others speak of and ultimately fall prey to personal debt and impending destruction of our business.

You will find that many of the suggestions that I make or products and services I present in this blog are directly in line with the things that I value and believe in. Others may be things that have helped me along the way that I would like to share with you as a thank you for stopping by. You see, I am of the belief that things that helped me become successful do not have to remain a mystery to you. I want you to succeed as well. What God has for me is for me and sharing knowledge in no way reduces my bounty, it only adds to it! I believe was placed on this planet to help you. I believe that am part of your trajectory into freedom and success.

The world is at an historic moment of change-the end of the year 2019 and the beginning of a new decade!

I am launching something special that will be the link to dramatic change and financial restructuring. See, I believe that people with entrepreneurial spirits are able to recover from financial pits and detours and will emerge stronger, more committed, and wiser because of their failures.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Stay tuned in as I will be revealing it very soon and I want be sure you don’t miss it!
